Emerson H.K. Stoldt

b. 1990
Formally schooled as an architect, Emerson is a mixed media artist who uses his art to reflect on his experiences and practices in architecture. He explores color, structure, and geometry and attempts to play with how they are perceived by the audience. By contrasting hard edged geometry and abstract expression through pattern, shape, and color he attempts to create a dialogue that can connect the audience to memories and emotions that can be dulled by the churn of everyday life. For Emerson, a painting is a meditative process, and each layer of a painting serves as a physical repository to capture moments in time before they pass.
